Looking for a
pleasant place to live? Welcome to Placentia, California which
means just that in the Spanish language.
With a mild climate and a history that dates back to
1837, Placentia makes a great area to live.
What started out as land granted by the Mexican
government, Placentia grew into a thriving city and is home to
45,000 residents today.
It was in Placentia that the first commercial
Placentia orange grove was planted in 1880, eventually contributing
to Orange County’s name.
Oil also played a part in Placentia’s history. When
oil was discovered on several of the residents land in 1919, it
resulted in a population boom.
Today, much of Placentia’s agricultural land has
given way to buildings and residents and many of the locals travel
to near-by cities for work.
Placentia hosts several annual events including a
very festive 4th of July with community softball,
children’s events and fire works at the Bradford Stadium, a free
five-week summer concert series in Tri-City Park, and the Heritage
Festival and Parade which dates back to 1965 and celebrates the
city’s heritage. |
